King Of Laughter

Mode of Documentary
This documentary is a mix of different types of documentaries such as Observational documentaries. I think this because it does not have any information titles, no interviews and it just observes one guy and how he became what he is. This documentary is also a participatory documentary because it is actively engaging with the situation by asking people questions, getting opinions and by sharing experiences with them, In King of Laughter they do this by getting people to laugh, they show a lot of people laughing this is an example of them engaging with the subject, getting opinions from old people on why they laugh.

What's the purpose?
the aim of this documentary is to inform people about laughter and to get people to think about the brighter side to everything, because the protagonist Belachew Girma has had a lot of problems in his life and his solution was to laugh it out and because of this he is famous, for being the world record holder and for having the longest continuous laugh.

Who's the audience?
the audience for the documentary is basically anyone. I think this because it shows people from different ages and the y are discussing a topic that everyone can relate to and has some kind of experience or knows something about. In the documentary it shows elderly people discussing general problems in house hold such as people not spending enough time with each other, or enjoying anything because all they do is watch television.

Construction
they start off by giving the location and a basic fact about it being the unhappiest place to live in the whole of Britain and they start to introduce him to the audience by mentioning the fact that he has come to try and change that, they mention him to the audience as "one man" but don't give the full details or give the viewers his name.while there doing this they give short video clips of the location Walsall.

concrete circus

shots:
At the start they have a lots of 1 sec video clips of people doing different stunts from different angles,
They start off with a medium close up of the protagonist talking. they use a lot of long shots in the videos of the cyclists. they do this to get the audiences attention.
In the interviews while the protagonist is  talking they show video clips of the cyclist and what he does because it relates to what they are talking about.  during the interviews they have a medium close up and don't really change the shots much and they don't even pan in any of the interviews.  when the protagonist is talking about himself in first person they have close ups of his face and sometimes also extreme close ups of his eyes and such. when they show a new protagonist they start off by showing different angles such as shoes, watches, hats, other props, hands and other body parts like their eyes.
